Improv for the Real World

Sometimes what stresses us out about a situation is that we just haven’t done it enough. Or at all. If only there was a way to practice social encounters. A place to do mock interviews, make small talk, even go on hypothetical dates in a safe and fun environment. I know I’m saying the obvious now, but there is! It’s this course.

We’ll take those stressful situations and make them fun using improv, including:

  • Interviews (how to sell yourself confidently)
  • First dates (being interesting and interested)
  • Presentations (engaging your audience vs just getting through it)
  • Networking and small talk (how to start or join a conversation)
  • Social outings (meeting people at parties, weddings, work situations)
  • Any of those real life moments that get our hearts racing, palms sweating, and head thinking “How can I get out of this?”

We’ll explore what’s really going on during those things:

  • Wanting to make a good first impression
  • Wanting to be liked and fit in
  • Wanting to do it right or perfectly
  • Being afraid of embarrassing yourself
  • Needing to control the situation and everyone involved

This is your chance to use improv to make up scenarios and practice for the real world. To quote Inglourious Basterds, “You know how you get to Carnegie Hall, don’t you? Practice.”
